Javan glanced at him, noting the confused look on Jenny's face when she walked in.
"Initiative is a good thing. Jen, meet Mitch, He's going to helping out a bit. With any luck, he'll be a regular sight here. Alright, so its time for your next task."
He didnt even bother going out to check the work, the amount of dirt the kid had on him was evidence enough.
"Jen? Why dont you show him the ropes on cleaning the surgical room. Make sure he doesnt handle thing dangerous, but make sure he knows how it needs to be done. And no sharps. He needs all his fingers for when his backside ships off to Basic."
He grinned, and Jennifer, herself an Army Brat, shook her head.
"Well come on then, and dont mind the Doc, hes just twisted."

A regular sight? Mitch would like that - after all he loved animals.
Dial it back Mitch, again don’t seem too eager. He could only scare the man off at this rate if he did. So instead, he listened to what he had to say - understanding at least. He definitely didn’t want to lose his fingers either: and he’d really never been in a vets office before! He may have been excited but even he knew the drill with something new that required this kind of work. Keep quiet during instructions, follow all of them,
When Jennifer spoke up to him, he quickly looked at Javan. “Alright, doc. I promise, if I lose anything I won’t sue!” He snarked jokingly.
He trotted after her quickly, heading out with her. “Sooooo where do we get started?” He asked eagerly, rubbing his hands together.

Javan smirked as the kid walked out of his office with Jen. He felt that Mitch would be a hard worker, now then, he should probably see about either a student worker permit, or possibly a mentorship program. Keep things legal.
Jen smiled at Mitch.
"First thing we need to do, is make sure the surgical room is stocked. So, you just check the tags."
She showed him a small label tag, glued in place under the shelves holding various items. Each tag had the item name, a four digit number, and second number.
"First number, the four digit one, is the last four numbers in the item barcode, so that you can be sure you grabbed the right one while restocking, the second number is how many should be in each slot. the closet over there has almost everything, except the sharps. You stock those, and remember the new stuff goes into the back. I'll handle the sharps. Once thats done, we dust, sweep, dust again, then sweep one more time. then we mop with mild detergent, and after we mop again with a disinfectant. Detergent uses hot water, disinfectant is mixed with COLD. Hot water actually breaks down the chemical and makes it inert. After that, i'll grab you some reference books, so if you ever get asked for something that sounds technical you at least have a vague idea of what to grab."

Mitch tried to follow as best he could, though hIS ADHD did make it a little hard.
All the same, it wasn’t too hard given at his age he had plenty of time to develop ways to keep himself from falling behind. It was like school, multi step problems might give him some trouble but he just put the pedal to the metal on everything. Sometimes putting in twice the work and sometimes finding he was surprisingly good at things. But at the same time, this was something he had to take his time with - not wanting to screw up. He hated to screw up and look bad, maybe because of his former foster dad, or maybe because it was just who he was.
Regardless, he got straight to work. Figuring out his own calm pace as he went - once he’d figured out where everything went he quickly got into a rythm. Whistling to himself as he did so. It took him a while but before long he was finished and moving on to the dusting, at which point he turned to Jen. “So is he always this nice to random kids who come in? Y’know the doc?” He asked rather honestly. “I don’t think I’ve met someone who’d be this quick to let some random kid work in his office.” He joked.
