The mall, yes it was one of her favourite places since being stationed in Tierney. It had everything you could possibly wish for, stores to suit everyone and of course her favourite store. Sure she had an apple down load thing, a spotify something or other but nothing could beat the feel of a CD in your hand. Yes she was old enough to remember cassette tapes but not LP’s but still she could be a little old school when it came to her music. Not just in taste but in her desire to have a cd collection rather than an online library of things.
Savannah had always loved her music and as she grew so did her love for it. There wasnt a day that a song didnt float through her head, like that day for some reason Katrina and the waves, walking on sunshine was in a state of constant repeat. Yes it was a sunny day, she had time to kill and Savannah felt like she was walking through the mall on cloud nine. The fresh bag in her hand that held a few albums and compilation cd’s which would likely be her evening with some pretty bad dancing involved too.
The sort that would likely require the curtains drawn just in case anyone on base saw her. She wasnt one to care about that as she danced in the OR often enough if she could but sometimes it was better left unseen. With that thought in mind she joined the line of people waiting for a hot drink as she chose her usual favourite tea. After explaining to the poor barista how to make it correctly and being the most picky person in the line she left to take a seat on a few tables that were dotted around as she took a moment to simply enjoy the down time that a day off provided her.

He might as well get used to the fact that he was in a new town during which, Julien needed new civilian clothes. At least a new pair of jeans. There had been a lot to do in the week but today, he was off-duty in a mild way - for he was always on call as a marine.
Julien pulled his earphones from out of his ear and phone before putting them away in his pockets. It was nice to not have to do anything strenuous and simply relax.
Tierney was a nice town, though it had been a while now and he still had not really had much of an exploration around the town. The mall was perhaps the first stop on his list as he walked in, window shopping was a good past time, which proved fruitful. He thanked the person at the till as the jeans were folded and slotted into the plastic bag before being handed to him with a smile. Having accomplished his mission, Julien stood around, staring into a store before deciding it was best to go have a cup of coffee.
Of course, he still remembered the time that his colonel had chucked pumpkin coffee at him. It was not pleasant but at least it had not scarred him from drinking coffee. Julien walked into the cafe, eyes briefly scanned the place before approaching the counter with a nod, having been behind a woman who was describing to the barista exactly how to make tea.
He stood just off to one side as he waited for his coffee to be made before taking it and looking for a place to sit. The cafe was filling up quite quickly, so he walked over the woman from earlier.
"Uh, ma'am, would you mind if I joined you on your table?" Julien asked.

The moving was a fun side for her, a new town, a new place to explore and find all the hidden secrets it had to offer. It was easy for her to just up sticks and move without another thought, she had little in the way of family, a mother who barely knew what corner of the world she was in and beyond forwarding her things onto her next place. There was always the fun of the adventure that the military provided her.
Today however there were no boxes to pack, bags to ready just time off which was as strange a feeling as much as it was a welcome one. She didnt have any idea how long she would be in Tierney but the place was slowly growing on here, the was enough to keep her occupied with the time she was out of uniform and had those spare days and hours to go and explore what there was to offer. Her only complaint was she couldnt find a decent cup of tea anywhere she had tried.
She was incredibly picky when it came to her tea, she had a set way of making it and over the years it hadn’t changed. Be it in her kitchen or stuck in a medical tent in the middle of a desert either way there was a time and a place for tea and it’s qualities in her head. Savannah only usually realised how insane she was about tea when she caught those ‘it’s a crazy lady’ looks from other customers but so far she hadn’t paid much attention to them other than to smile and try not to look any crazier than she sounded.
Savannah watched the cafe fill up as she sipped her hot tea, it seemed like a nice place to be and watch the world go about its business. Her mind was only pulled from it’s pondering when she saw a man walk over to her. She smiled up at him and waved him to take a seat as she stood up for a moment. “I wouldn’t mind at all sir, take a seat by all means.” She said in her usual half British American accent as she realised that he had seen her order her drink.
“About earlier. Sorry I’m a little picky when it comes to tea... not crazy just picky but...” Savannah raised the drink to her mouth as she decided that shutting up before she scared people away was a good idea as she just smiled. Great, way to look like the crazy person telling people you’re not.

“About earlier. Sorry I’m a little picky when it comes to tea... not crazy just picky but...”Julien gave her a smile as he sat himself down at the table, placing his cup carefully against the table. He noted that the woman held a British-American accent. He waved off the statement, "Everyone has their preferences, absolutely nothing wrong with being a little picky. Wouldn't have thought you were picky at all."A moment later, he realised that there was a need to introduce himself, having not done so earlier. He extended his hand, careful not to knock over the coffee, "Sorry, forgot to introduce myself. Name's Julien. Julien Foxwell, it's very kind of you to have allowed me to sit at your table."((Ack, I apologise for it being short!)) Tag: Lt. Col. Savannah Caffery

Savannah smiled when he sat himself down, his wave off of the statement was nice to hear for a change as she chuckled. “Well then you’re the nicest person I’ve met in Tierney yet then. Thank you for that.” She said as she took another sip of tea before she placed it down on the table. Most other things in life she wasnt half as picky about but tea was the ultimate, some people were picky with cars, other’s food but her she was out and out beverage picky. Seeing the extended hand, Anna shook his hand for a moment as she nodded to him and smiled. “Nice to meet you Julien Foxwell and you’re more than welcome to sit at the table, it’s nice to have some company for a change.” She wasnt the unsociable type who would tell someone to take a hike and it was nice to chat to someone different instead of an empty chair. “I’m Savannah, Savannah Caffery. So forgive me for prying but what brings you to this fantastic mall today? Is the coffee really that good here?” She asked grinning lightly, she didnt want to pry too much but she figured it was a pretty safe question. It was nice just to be called by her first name for a change, no Lt. Colonel or just last name give she found it sometimes easy to forget she had a first name at times depending what was happening on the day. ((No worries at all.)) Tag: Gy Sgt. Julien Foxwell

“Well then you’re the nicest person I’ve met in Tierney yet then. Thank you for that.”
Julien gave her a smile, "Mum always said that manners maketh the man." He took his own drink and took a long drink from it, allowing the ambience from the cafe itself.
“I’m Savannah, Savannah Caffery. So forgive me for prying but what brings you to this fantastic mall today? Is the coffee really that good here?”
"Trust me, one of the good cafes around Tierney," Julien replied. "I've only been around for a couple of days, haven't really gotten around to exploring the new town I've landed myself in, decided to get myself out and about for once. How about yourself?"

Savannah couldnt argue with what he said, manners always maketh the man though these days it was few and far between for those. She had met many a person who had no idea what manners were, yes on a battle field there wasnt the usual pleasantries to be had and she understood that but in a city it was simply nice to know that there were still people with manners out there. “Your mum is a very wise person.” She said smiling as she took another sip of her tea.
The good cafes well it sounded like a good place already and the taste test was going well so far too. “It’s good to get out and explore.” She said smiling as she glanced over him, military town likely a military man she thought for a second as she nodded. “Well I needed to add to my CD collection, yes I am still old school or not quiet up to the new school yet.” She explained as she motioned to the bag she had. It would save on box space if everything was saved to the cloud but there wasnt the same feel to it she thought.
“And I’ve a spare day off so I wanted to see what this place had to offer since it looks like I’m stationed here for a while. Besides it’s a great way to see places I wouldnt normally go to or get to see.” She said as she glanced at Julien for a moment. “I guess you’re stationed here too? Or am I wrong and you’re just a tourist?” She asked him still trying to work out if she was reading way too much into things or if a new town was seriously messing with her and she was seeing everyone as military these days.

“Well I needed to add to my CD collection, yes I am still old school or not quiet up to the new school yet.”
Julien smiled, it was good to see someone who had not moved everything to online listening. He was still coming around to it himself, and with him being in the military, he preferred to have things like hard-copies of things - just for nostalgia sake. "To be honest, the whole social media trend's kind of gone crazy, can't find myself keeping up with everything nowadays." He chuckled lightly.
“I guess you’re stationed here too? Or am I wrong and you’re just a tourist?”
He grinned, leaving her to wonder for a split second longer before deciding to answer it, "I guess you could say that I'm both, but I don't think I make all that great a tourist. I've been recently stationed here, still getting used to the whole transitioning thing. So, what branch?"

Something to hold on to, much like a book it was easier to see and touch something than to think of it being in cyber space. Then again a hard copy was also much easier to deal with and it gave her something to pack up too which made her feel like her home was more than just a box of things she carried from A to B.
“Me either, I mean sure to know that Corporal So and So had an omelette for breakfast is information but mostly I find of the useless variety. Keeping it all updated too, far easier just to have a conversation.” She said chuckling with him for a moment.
Savannah was left wondering as she thought for that split second she had guessed wrong, it wasnt like it hadn’t happened before but he seemed military to her unless she was way way off. “Both, well you are a man of mystery then. I mean aren’t we both tourists in a way even if we don’t make great ones though I guess we need to visit all the tourist places before we can be official ones.” She said with a smile as she nodded. “Army Medical Corps, 2nd Battalion. So, apart from Battalion Tourist, what’s you’re branch?” She asked curiously.

“Me either, I mean sure to know that Corporal So and So had an omelette for breakfast is information but mostly I find of the useless variety. Keeping it all updated too, far easier just to have a conversation.”Julien gave a smile, nodding. It was certainly something of a phenomenon nowadays with people updating almost every minute, many times he limited himself to friends and family; but even some had been caught by the craze of posting their latest selves in the mirror posing. "Much more engaging to have a nice conversation anyhow, don't have to go stir-crazy waiting on someone's response if they're in a different timezone."“Both, well you are a man of mystery then. I mean aren’t we both tourists in a way even if we don’t make great ones though I guess we need to visit all the tourist places before we can be official ones. Army Medical Corps, 2nd Battalion. So, apart from Battalion Tourist, what’s you’re branch?”"Marine Corps," Julien chuckled slightly, giving a lopsided grin at his next answer. It always made him sound like a young boy. "Joined as an enlisted, never really looked back from there. Always loved being by the water and fast boats. Though, got to say, prefer the title of Battalion tourist, has a nice ring to it."Tag: ( Lt. Col. Savannah Caffery,) Notes: Sorry it took so long to get this >.<

Savannah smiled back, the social media crazy was leaving her standing and if she had a choice she would have gone backward. CD’s great but vinyl was better though where she had space for those, ha base housing could only go so far. Then again she did find it handy to keep in touch with friends that were spread out across the globe. “Glad to find another person on earth who thinks that too and time zones don’t even get me started. Why can’t we all run on the one time, wouldn’t it make life easier than having to take and add hours for whichever country or zone you’re in? Besides in my mind it takes too long to get readjusted when you get back.” It was the one part of the travel she couldn’t honestly get her head around, the being wide awake in the middle of the night in one place and having to sleep in another when it was mid day. Savannah chuckled at the mention of the Marine Corps and the sight of his lopsided grin, it made him sound like a young boy and for some reason the whole ‘I joined the Marines’ in her head made him about twenty years old. “Yeah Battalion Tourist, makes it sound touristy like try here then see what this part is like and if not just try something else.” She said chuckling at the thought, “Fast boats and water huh so you’re that guy.” She teased lightly, “Me I prefer the ground under my feet but I do get to play with knives and bandages all day. Then when I’m in the US I get the cool robot gadgets at times too.” It was a little more complicated than that and a lot less sinister than playing with knives but a basic over view though at times the toys and tech were beyond cool then again fast boats, maybe she had chosen the wrong career. Savannah took another sip of her tea as she relaxed into her seat. “So tell me, what’s your favourite fast boat and what’s the fastest boat you’ve been on, if you can tell me of course.” She asked not sure if he could as she knew a lot of things might be the need to know that so many were fond of. It bore no surprise that he enjoyed his job; albeit the aspect of danger that constantly lurked around the corner. It was what kept him on his toes and made his job less tedious - even when paperwork found its way onto his desk. “Glad to find another person on earth who thinks that too and time zones don’t even get me started. Why can’t we all run on the one time, wouldn’t it make life easier than having to take and add hours for whichever country or zone you’re in? Besides in my mind it takes too long to get readjusted when you get back.”"Hah, yeah. Tell me about it," Julien replied. "It's more so the body that needs to adjust, it's quite interesting how much we push our bodies to do what is needed of them. But, it's quite fun trying to figure out how timezones work anyway."He listened to what Savannah had to say, nodding along. “Me I prefer the ground under my feet but I do get to play with knives and bandages all day. Then when I’m in the US I get the cool robot gadgets at times too.” "Hats off to you, doc," Julien gave her a soft grin. "Already fighting half our battles for us. Honestly, really do have respect for what the Medical corps does. I wouldn't be able to stomach it. But then again, you've mentioned cool robots and gadgets - sounds like something right out of robot wars."Julien leaned back in his seat as he watched the world pass by, there was a lot of people passing in and out of the mall and children running backwards and forwards. “So tell me, what’s your favourite fast boat and what’s the fastest boat you’ve been on, if you can tell me of course.”There was a lot of things that he was not at liberty to discuss, but there was always a fall-back, "Love being on RIBs, speed boats. You know you're going to get there, and with the water in your face - couldn't feel any more alive. Keeps one focused on the task as well." He chuckled. "Tell me, why the Medical corps? Always heading in that particular direction?"Tag: ( Lt. Col. Savannah Caffery,)

The paperwork was the one thing that annoyed her at times, she much preferred to spend time with her patients versus the minefield of paper this and form that and filing system ABC. She tried to keep a balance of her time but then it was why she preferred working away, at least then paperwork came relatively second to treating the patient. “It is, I guess you see a lot but sometimes I don’t know how people manage to push themselves so much. It makes you proud to be a part of it when above and beyond it a day to day thing. It’s fun working the times zones out, I remember a few times I’ve managed to get mixed up and reported for duty around five hours too soon. Then do the walk of ‘yeah nothing’s wrong, just walk away and hope no one notice’s.” She said grinning, time messed with her and sure getting state side was great but when there was a time difference life became backwards pretty fast. Savannah grinned and shook her head as he spoke. “Thank you but it’s you guys who do the hard work in fighting the battles, we just wait around and see what we can do after the fact.” It was always the part she hated, the incoming or assessments on what could be heard close by get all she had to do was try to get to who she could and hopefully have a good day. “You have my respect for what you do and my gratitude too, it’s an honour to get to help you guys.” She said meaning every word. It was the way she looked at what she did, even a bad day if there was one person she could help or make their day in any way it was worth it. “Oh it is, you should see some of the operating tools we have. We’ve got one with four arms, a space age seat to sit in and you just have to guide the thing with your hands, a practical hairs width of accuracy on it.” She said as she realised she likely sounded more crazy than the specific tea order. It was nice to just sit and people watch, the children and people moving around some oblivious and others just in their own little worlds. It sometimes just paid to sit back and watch the world go about its business simply to get back to day to day routines. Savannah raised her brow as he spoke about the RIBs, it was obvious from the way he spoke he loved his job and too the boats. “Wow, it sounds like you love it, focus is good but don’t you get cold with all the water? I honestly can’t imagine being on a boat that fast. Fastest I’ve ever been on was a paddle boat, one side of the pond to the other.” She said grinning. Savannah chewed on her lip for a moment as she considered his question, “Not always, if my mother got her way I would have been a politician by now but honestly I wouldn’t have that given. I wanted the adventure of the military; I grew up on bases all over so staying in one place didn’t sit well with me. My father served and didn’t make it back so I swore I’d do everything to make sure that didn’t happen to anyone else, but the short version. I like helping people and I get to do that then that’s my day made up.” She said smiling, it was the best part of her job getting to see people get better, to help in any way she could do. It was perhaps idealistic but then she had always had that happy outlook on almost everything. Tag: Gy Sgt. Julien Foxwell

Julien gave an understanding nod of his head as he listened to Savannah speak. Then do the walk of ‘yeah nothing’s wrong, just walk away and hope no one notice’s.”He gave a chuckle at that, "Nothing wrong with being too early, it's being on time that you'd have to worry about." Julien had always been earlier than expected, unless stated otherwise. As she continued to speak, praising them for the work that they did, Julien could not help but bow under such compliment - for he was just doing his job and keeping his comrade's six safe. "Big family, everyone helps one another out. We're all doing our parts." He gave a soft smile. He then proceeded to listen to the tools in which they used, his brows raising at the precision of the thing. It was nice to listen to others speak, and then to the calm that was the outside world - the children who lived in bliss with the battle miles away from them. "Sounds pretty sci-fi to me, I know how to work a gun but working something like that, probably would be all fingers and thumbs!"“Wow, it sounds like you love it, focus is good but don’t you get cold with all the water? I honestly can’t imagine being on a boat that fast. Fastest I’ve ever been on was a paddle boat, one side of the pond to the other.”"Cold comes with the job, I guess with all that adrenaline pumping through one's veins," Julien grinned, tilting his head. "Come visit us some time and I'll take you on one. Genuine offer, ma'am."Falling into another lapse of silence as he listened to Savannah describe why she had found herself in such profession. His expression sombre as the fact that her father had not made it back, knowing that in itself, he had been lucky that his brother had been rescued. A miracle, if he ever allowed himself to think it one. He took in the information with a nod of acknowledgement. He pointed to the cup, "Can I get you another one?" Tag:: Lt. Col. Savannah Caffery

Savannah nodded and smiled, “Yes if you’re on time then you’re already two hours late.” It was always good to be early because then at least you knew what you were dealing with, no surprises and if there were it was already too late to do much about then. If you arrived in advance then life had to show some love, at least that was what she told herself when she tried not to be late anywhere. The military helped a lot with timing, never be late and outside of that never be late because that was when things started to slide. Seeing him bow under the compliment Savannah smiled, in her head it was true. She waited to see what she could do after the work was done which meant that all the hard work was done by people like Julien. “Yes we do but thank you for all you do. Without you guys the rest of us would have no chance.” She stated as she chuckled when he said it sounded pretty sci-fi. It was a little and sure robots taking over the world kind of nut sure but then again it was fun to be involved in it all despite the seriousness that came with it. “I’m sure you’d do great with it, think of it like a huge Xbox controller. Just you don’t get the reset and try again factors. It would be more helpful if we did but I’m still old fashioned and the tech is great but a blade to me is more reliable. At least I feel like I’m actually working and not playing video games.” She explained even though she knew it was far from a video game but yes she was more the hands on type to work than to work from a distance. “Thank you Sir and I might take you up on that offer. Just promise me you won’t judge me if I start screaming that I want to get off the boat okay?” She asked knowing it was likely, boats and her it was bad enough when it was a ship in the middle of the sea and she was convinced she would fall off the edge of it somehow. She was that person who if she ever did have to go on a ship would practically run inside and pretend that it was an apartment building with no windows and not floating. "If you're ever around the hospital feel free to drop in and if you want I can show you around some and even might show you some of the tech and let you practice on it too if you're up for the challenge?" She offered smiling warmly. “And you don’t need to use ma’am. Savannah’s fine with me or Anna whichever you’d prefer.” She explained not wanting him to feel uncomfortable, it wasnt like they were working though sure she had the nervous replies of sir and ma’am when required as often it was easier than trying to work out the off duty to the on at times. Savannah saw his expression as she realised that it wasnt exactly the happiest story she had ever told and to a virtual stranger too she had likely just killed any jovial mood. Great way to go she thought though to her it made her appreciate getting to go home all the more. Savannah smiled and nodded when he pointed to the cup, Savannah was about to stand when she saw the look from the barista. Crazy lady and the tea as she reached into her bag for a moment. “Sure that would be great but on me though and whatever it is you would like too.” She said as she pulled out some cash and held it out for Julien to take. “Then you can tell me, why you picked the Marine Corps?” She asked curious as to his answer though his enjoyment for RIBs had come across though she wondered if there was more to it.
