At least the bar scene was a familiar one for Andy. She wouldn't go so far as to say that she felt at home behind the bar, but she certainly felt comfortable there. She'd been bartending in San Diego since she was 23, and it was the experience under her belt that contributed to the fact that she was working this bar alone on a Tuesday afternoon. It was her third day on the job, but weekday afternoons were generally pretty slow anyway, usually only regulars frequenting.
A couple of them even recognized her already, but it was easy to do when she was a new face and they were familiar with all of their bartenders.
She was grateful for the job, especially hearing that her husband was set to deploy in a little less than a week. She would have lost her mind being stuck at home with not much to do, and knowing almost no one in town. Andy had to admit, however, that if they made a habit out of giving Logan warning before he was set to deploy, she already liked Tierney more than San Diego. Too many deployments had been at the drop of the hat, and a couple of times, she came home to a quickly scrawled note and an already deployed husband. She liked being able to prepare for it.
And this job... she liked having things to keep her busy during deployments, too. Take her mind off of just how much she missed her best friend and worried about him.
Making a Bloody Mary for a woman at the end of the bar who looked to be in her sixties (and Andy would have guessed a widow), she glanced up when the door opened, letting the afternoon sunlight flood the place for just a second. She waited for them to take a seat, then set a coaster in front of them and offered a bright smile. "What can I get for ya?"

Jay walked into the bar, eyes clouded. He probably shouldn't be here, but he didn't care. Despite the fact that he had been talking with Ashley about things, the nightmares about Rodiger weren't fading. If anything, they were getting worse. He was just lucky that he had some downtime today. He had stayed away from everybody, not wanting to talk to anyone or do anything. But on the other hand, he couldn't just stay on base. So bar it was. He just...he needed to make the memories go away. If he could do that, everything would be just fine.
He pushed the thought away and then walked up to the counter as the bartender asked him what she could get for him. "Bourbon. Leave the bottle," he requested. Just drown out the memories. You've done it before. You can do it again, he thought to himself. Okay, maybe it wasn't the best way to deal with things, but he didn't care. He just wanted it all to go away. Was that such a bad thing? Not in his opinion, though he had a feeling that Ashley would disapprove. But who cared what she thought? She wasn't the one who had the images running around in her head, he was. And right now, he just needed to get good and drunk.

Andy raised an eyebrow, not needing to glance at her phone to know that it was much earlier in the afternoon than those types of requests normally came in. One of the things that she found really fascinating about bartending was the fact that most of them, if they were worth their salt, tended to be better therapists than people who went to school for it. They weren't paid nearly as well, and while Andy could certainly have her moments, she really liked getting to know people, more for the amusement of people watching than anything else. "Can't legally do that for you, but I'll pour you a shot and a double and we'll go from there." She was sure it seemed cool and brooding to ask for the bottle to be left in movies, but legally, bartenders couldn't let their patrons serve themselves. She set a glass on the bar. "How do you prefer it, hun?" It was so easy to revert to names like that. For Andy, it was usually hun for the guys and sweetheart for the women. (Unless she was being condescending, of course, then guys would get sweetheart too). She found that it very rarely bothered people and usually gave her an instant level of trust with the person. She figured the guy would let her know soon enough if he wanted to talk or not. Sgt. Jay Halstead

Jay's eyes flickered as the bartender stated that she couldn't leave the bottle for him, saying that she'd pour him a shot and a double and let things go from there, asking him how he preferred it. "Neat," he answered. Too bad she can't leave the bottle. Need it, he thought to himself. But it wasn't like he could say that. He wouldn't be able to explain. And besides, she probably wouldn't understand. How could she? No one did. He just---he had to get the images out of his head...
OOC Sorry it's short. Brain fizzled.

Neat it is, Andy thought, nodding once and pouring him the shot and the double that she promised. She made a mental note to keep an eye on him, both to refill his drink and to see if he'd had too much.
It wasn't her responsibility to keep track of that, but she was used to doing it anyway. It was more difficult here because she didn't have that sort of familiarity with anyone yet, but she would get there. Setting two glasses in front of him, she offered a warm smile. "Guessing it wasn't a great day today."
It left things open for him to respond how he wanted to. If he wanted to talk and lament a rough day/week/year/life, she'd listen. If he just wanted to waive her off and drink in peace, he could do that, too.

Jay smiled at the woman when she poured him the drink. "Thank you," he murmured. When the bartender stated that she was guessing that the day hadn't been all that great, he shrugged. "Not bad either. Just...long," he said. Doesn't help that I keep having nightmares, he thought to himself. Not that he was going to say this, mind you. No one needed to know about them. Well, other than Ashley. But he wasn't due for another session for a couple of days now. But honestly, he had no idea what he was supposed to do about the nightmares.
He then mentally shook off the thoughts and turned to her with a smile. "How about you? Can't always be easy serving drinks and listening to people bitch and moan about stuff you probably couldn't care less about," he commented. Not that he had even been a bartender, but from what he had seen, it was a pretty thankless job. So, if she wanted to talk about anything, he was willing to listen.
