Kill house 1750He had spent the day preparing the kill house for this one. Julien had managed to get a slot free for them to use for the good part of the evening. It was one of his favourite past times, aside from shooting brass down at the range. It was two stories worth of a kill house, with several rooms on each floor. He had purposefully caused the rooms to be tight corners and such - so that they would have more practice in close quarters, in case it came down to it. Targets set up, the kill house was ready. Julien proceeded down the stairs and headed out, waiting the arrival of Lara DunCroft. Tag: ( Spc. Lara DunCroft)

Lara arrived at the facility 10 minutes before their training exercise was scheduled to begin, she had hit the indoor and out door gun ranges several times but that was pretty much it on the fire arms side of training since she had made the move to Tierney. Pulling up she got out of her vehicle and began walking towards the building and she smiled as she approached and saw Julien standing there waiting for her, "Sir." Stopping in front of him she stood at parade rest. She hadn't done any training for a few months now and she was looking forwards to practicing, brushing up and expanding on her skills. She didn't know when her first mission with the JTF would be and she was here to keep herself at her best and hone her skills ready for whenever deployment would come, not to mention the prospect of having another sniper to play with again was nice too. The challenges of these simulations could be rather fun for Lara at times, especially if there was a little friendly competitiveness in the mix, or someone to work together with so you both push one another and bring out the best in each other. Why is something so simple still so complicated? *cries*)

"Evening, Lara. Glad you're joining me through the rundown of the kill-house, always good to have another sniper on board." Julien nodded. He half-turned towards the house, pointing at it's two floor glory. It did not look much from the outside, but he was going to kick the training up. They worked hard, played hard. "I've set up the house, we've got two floors to clear, several rooms on each. If you think I'm being vague, there is a reason for it. We have to be ready for the unknown, more we practice, the better we're going to be if it comes to it. There's little reason why neither of us are unable to do it, I've ran through it once."He paused briefly to clear his throat and allow for the information to kick in before speaking once more, "Some of the targets will pop up, and not all will be hostiles. Seeing that I'm in a nice mood, I'll let you know that there are traps that you have to watch out for. Being that I've set this up for your benefit, I'm placing you in the lead - I'll follow. It'll test your leadership skills and your communication skills. Any questions?"Tag: ( Spc. Lara DunCroft)

Lara gave a nod in return to Julien after he greeted her, saying it was always good to have another sniper on board. She listened as he began the rundown of the building, two floors with several rooms. She nodded when he told her why he was being vague, his reasons were sound and she had no objections at all, they were there to prepare themselves for the situations they would come across in the field, and in the field they wouldn't know the exact layout of every building they would have to enter, and they would not know where everybody inside that building would be either. This was welcome practices and was exactly what she was there for. Lara nodded again when he said there was no reason why they couldn't handle it. The English woman wasn't arrogant in her skills, but she was confident enough in herself as a soldier and didn't see why they wouldn't be able to do this successfully. She smiled when he said he was in a nice mood and warned her that there were traps and that not all of the targets would be hostile, "Good to know." She replied, looking to the building then back to him. Sounded like the perfect practices scenario to her, also sounded like there was no reason they couldn't have a little fun with the challenge of it either. But then her smile faded when Julien went on to say he was putting her in the lead. Since her very last mission with her Ranger unit had gone wrong on her watch Lara had been actively avoiding any kind of leadership responsibilities the best she could. She was confident in herself as a soldier and was good at following orders, but her confidence in her own leadership skills was kind of shot. But she couldn't see a way out of this one and there was no excuses she could really give, especially when Julien had caught her off guard like that. But she did her best to not to let it show, though she couldn't completely hide the deer in the headlights look in her big, expressive eyes. "Um, no." She replied, lightly stumble the words out before she got herself back on track, "No questions." She finished in response to his question. Suddenly the prospect of the challenge seemed a little less fun. But it was just a training exercise after all so it wasn't that bad. Besides, she knew if she let on that she had reservations about taking the lead on things then that was exactly what the military would make her do. Work on a weakness until it became a strength, a philosophy Lara was usually on board with...except in this case. "Shall we?" She asked in an even tone, looking over to the building. If she was gonna have to take the lead she might as well get on with it. Tag: Gy Sgt. Julien Foxwell,

He would have made a horrible team leader if he could not pick up on the emotions around him and did not act on them - Julien had noticed the shock that had taken over on her features and he softened somewhat. "Lara, for whatever reason you start to feel uncomfortable in the position I've put you in, feel free to tap me on the shoulder and I'll step in. Okay?""Shall we?"Julien nodded, shouldering his gun and waited on Lara's command. "Let's do it."Tag: ( Spc. Lara DunCroft) Notes: Sorry it's short, it'll increase when the action happens

She was unable to hide her initial moment of surprise when he told her she was to be on lead, but she thought she did well at masking the look a split second after that. It must have been her expressive eyes that betrayed her yet again, they were good at betraying what she was truly feeling inside. She saw Julien soften, and her brow crinkled a little as she looked up at him with those eyes of hers, a light frown on her face, waiting to see what he was gonna come out with. "Lara, for whatever reason you start to feel uncomfortable in the position I've put you in, feel free to tap me on the shoulder and I'll step in. Okay?" With that the unseen tenseness in her shoulders and stomach melted away, as did the expression in her eyes. Lara nodded, "Okay." She replied before a very soft, appreciative smile crossed her lips. Suddenly the thought of leading this training exercise wasn't so bad knowing Julien wasn't gonna go big, scary MARSOC man on her, and that he was there to step in if she needed him. The trait of a good teacher and a good team leader. "Let's do it.""Okay, stick together, watch each other's six and look before you leap." She said, meaning to check before running around a blind corner or triggering one of the traps with a misplaces step. She tucked the butt of her weapon into her shoulder ready to go before she looked to Julien letting her mild (and totally unexpected) sense of delicateness be replaced with a smile, "And lets crush this."With that she poised her weapon and led Julien through the front door, moving her torso from left to right as she scanning for targets as they moved through the room tactically. "Clear."The entry was clear and Lara waisted no time moving to the next room with Julien in tactical formation. She instantly fired two shots, accurately hitting the who standing targets while she trusted Julien to hit the others. Tag: Gy Sgt. Julien Foxwell . Even though training in kill-houses and in urban environments had become the norm quite some time ago in his military career, Julien could never shake the adrenaline that he felt upon having the chance to go door-to-door. He was there as a team member and as a partial team leader (if Lara so wished for him to step in) and certainly had a lot to perfect. "Okay, stick together, watch each other's six and look before you leap."Julien nodded as Lara turned to face him, a smile spreading across her lips as she seemed in better spirits compared to a shy few minutes ago. Soon, he was led through the front door, his body automatically switching into his stable stance - eyes scanning for targets as his body followed shortly afterwards. "Clear." He backed it up, making sure she had not missed anything as they moved into the next room. Scanning his surroundings, and hearing Lara open fire with her weapon - two shots, two kills. The layout was still fresh in his mind, but he had attempted to forget the target positioning, so to give him a more equal starting point as his finger pressed down on the trigger as he faced the first one, smoothly sweeping over one target - this one a civilian as the following target was not. Another two shots had been fired - double tapping. "Room clear, civvie safe."They still had a couple of other rooms to clear on this floor, and several traps that had been placed - above, below, from the side - he needed to test all reflex aspects of a soldier as well as train them to expect the unexpected. Julien glanced over in Lara's direction, waiting for his next orders whilst making his own observations on her performance. Tag: ( Spc. Lara DunCroft)

"Room clear, civvie safe." Lara gave a nod of acknowledgment, "Copy that, move forward." She said keeping things moving at a steady pace. She kept her weapon ready as she stalked through the passageway with her companion. Coming up to the next room the door was closed, Lara positioned herself at the side of the door, letting Julien get into position himself. She looked at him to make sure he was ready and when he was she gave him the nod, signaling him to turn the handle and open the door. Targets popped out as they looked into the room and with lightning fast reflexes Lara passed over one civilian target and fired into and enemy target while she relied on Julien to cover her. Things were starting to get a little tighter and it was only going to get even tighter as they moved further inside, but it wasn't anything they couldn't handle if they put all of their training and everything they had been taught into practice. "Clear?" she asked, confirming with Julien that he was happy the targets were neutralized as she scanning the room through her weapon's sight. She might have had the lead on this exercise but they had to work as a team and both of them had to keep their eyes out and watch out for each other. Tag: Gy Sgt. Julien Foxwell.
