They were all standing at the briefing area of a large training area, they weren't that many except a few MRAP crews and of course the large 6x6 Cougars parked next to each other. Cross moved over to his cougar and put his helmet on the hood "Gather up men! Around me!" he started getting everybody's attention. As people gathered around him he cleared his throat "I am Staff Sergeant Cross, I'm sure many of you know me already. We're here to train manoeuvres and live fire with these vehicles" he opened up a small notebook before he continued speaking.
"You will now receive your briefing... For this operation we will be using two times 6x6 Cougar each mounted with 12.7 machine gun. I will be the vehicle commander of Victor 1, with "Wrongway" as my driver and "Bullwinkle" as my gunner. Staff Sergeant Sullivan you will manage who does what in your vehicle, you got "Rocky" and Peabody.
Situation, We're training manoeuvres where we'll be driving to the outskirts of the town of Ali Shahr where we'll be providing over watch and fire support.
A, Enemy Forces, Weather. During the next 4 hours of this operation the weather is said to be sunny and partly cloudy, wind speed will be low around 17 mph from NW.
The terrain will be open around the town with water to the southwest and hills to the NE.
As for the enemy we got Intel he has dug in to defend the town of Ali Shahr as they prepare to move a weapons stash previously held by the local government forces.
We're expecting their strengths to number around a platoon spread out at different positions in and around the town, we've been told that their morale is high after their recent victory though from observers in the area we believe they are only armed with small arms but expect Anti-tank weapons. They are capable of calling in reinforcements of one platoon suspected to be at the river to the SW approx. 20 minutes away. We're expecting their response will be fighting while pulling back towards the town with a chance of a counter-attack.
B. Friendly Forces, for this operation the fictitious 23rd company's Alpha and Bravo platoon are in the area.
They will be coming in from the E to assault and secure the Weapons stash after that they'll destroy it and move out from the town after the end of their mission while we provide fire support against any potential enemy trying to attack them and cover them when they move out. Sadly besides us there is no fire support.
Two, Mission, We, with two Cougars will, provide safety and fire support for the 23rd. Mission will start at 1330 hrs. We will move from this location on a patrol route going NW a long the road until we hit the hillside 298 to the NE of the town.
Three, Execution
We will be moving out from the Assembly Area where we'll be following this road to the north. I will be in Victor 1 being the front vehicle, Sullivan you will be Victor 2. We will be keeping a speed of 50 mph and and a distance of 100 meters between the vehicles. Where we'll pass RV 1 go right to RV 2 before continuing on to RV 3 where we'll halt until we'll move on to the OP at Hillside 298 where we'll provide over watch. As for the ROE, You are allowed to fire when fire upon, if you can positively identify an enemy combatant i.e uniform and weapon you ask for permission from me, until the 23rd are in contact, and DON'T fire on soldiers who surrender, so remember weapons tight." He took a breath and cleared his throat. "Any questions?" He asked as he looked among the men that were gathered around, and hopefully taking notes.
