How was work?

She had been taken off duty at twenty weeks, gone were her days of working on tanks and things and onto six months of paper pushing boredom. Funny enough, the same day she was taken off active duty was the same day she had learned that she was expecting a baby boy. It was a bittersweet thing. Six months and some change after being moved to desk duty she was back doing what she enjoyed, and it was not the paper pushing.
She and Lucas were still getting used to their sometimes separate and hectic schedules, and juggle having a baby, though as far as all but a select few knew, Meghan was a single parent to Riley and Lucas was just a friend who she could call when she needed help. Least that's what her family thought. Except Lucas was Riley's father. Meg had been back at work for little over a month when she was presented with another kind of job offer, if anything it was a whole new opportunity for her career and the exact opposite of what she and Lucas had discussed over the past seven months. They both agreed that having two parents in a high risk jobs was not what they wanted for their son, they did not want to risk leaving the kid an orphan.
Yet here Meg was, doing the exact opposite of what they had agreed on. This was going to go over so well.
Meg pulled her car up to the house she and Lucas shared, even though he still had his address as somewhere else, he spent majority of his time here, especially since Riley was born. Usually she got out of her car and went inside, eager to see everyone, but today she took a moment, her eyes drilling a hole into the steering wheel. After a moment she glanced to the front door, with a sigh she got out of the car and went inside. The house was quiet except for the sound of the tv coming from the living room so that was where she headed, "Little man asleep?" she asked as she walked into the room?
