Flight Escort 0935 Local Time After she had gotten her flight team into position the newly minted Lt. Colonel found herself lost in her head. Though she had a job to do. Thinking about Malachi's job wasn't going to make her job any easier. "Harvey, when we break formation you don't leave my wing" Of all the people to have her back and she had locker boy. Though tempers never really bothered her much. She started playing with a few things on the control panel. Lizzie tugged a little to the left as they made flight patterns for the others. If it was one thing she hated about escorts was they occasionally got lulled into thinking they were just flying for fun and that was hardly the case. Clearly there was a present danger or they wouldn't be there. The last thing they needed was above ground company. Though for now the radar was clean, so pristine she wanted to pet it. No wait that was just weird. Then again with any stroke of luck she was just kidding herself if she thought she was normal. Tag: @david OOC Note: Lt. Col. Savannah Caffery, Ssgt. Sherman Sullivan, Sgt. Jay Halstead, Col. Stephanie Huntley, Gy Sgt. Julien Foxwell when we land in the other mission thread post here and join us. Jay's eyes clouded as he followed Lieutenant Colonel Dovev. Not sure I like the idea of splitting up, he thought to himself. His nerves were jangling. Then again, they had been jangling ever since this stupid mission had started, so really, it wasn't anything new. Okay, focus. He had work to do. His eyes flickered to the escort, and then glanced at the Lieutenant Colonel. Yup. She looked just as tense as he did. Good. Not just me then, he thought to himself. That was good to know. But hey, the escorts were doing their jobs at least. He just hoped that they didn't complacent or sloppy as it wouldn't do anyone any good if they lost site of what they were doing.
He then gave his attention to his weapon, checking it again as he made sure that it wasn't pointed at anyone. Okay, everything's shipshape. Need to cool it, he thought. Yes, he was on edge---who wasn't?----but that didn't mean that he had to make things worse. No, he just wanted the damn plane to land so they could do something besides wait. yes, he was impatient right now, which was a bit unusual for him, as he was usually better than this during a mission. He then took a deep breath, exhaling a moment later. He needed to calm himself before he made everyone else even more on edge. Everyone needed their heads clear for this, just like any other mission.
OOC Hope you don't mind me jumping in right away. Also, short, I know. But he wasn't feeling chatty. Maybe when things start happening.

David had been absentmindedly messing with his control panel and keeping an eye on both Liz's F22 and the radar screen when he heard her address him. "Copy that firefly, On your wing." Looking back to the radar it was so clear he didn't know whether to be happy or even more on edge because in his experience missions like this hardly ever went this smoothly and exactly like planned.
Even though he was focused on Liz and his responsibilities David's mind wandered a bit to his family back home, he knew he had some work that needed to be done to keep the family together. He'd let things get tense between himself and Abigail recently and they had grown apart some since their move to Tierney. When he returned home he knew he was going to have to work on things to see if there was even anything worth saving anymore. There was no doubt that he loved his kids and would do anything for them, including doing his best to work things out with Abigail.
Drawing his thoughts back to the mission at hand he smiled looking at the still empty radar. He was itching to do something other than this escort flight, David had plenty of pent up energy and right now fiddling with the control panel was doing little to relieve any of that. He was alert and on his game because he'd seen and heard of so many others making the mistake of becoming complacent as they flew escort. He wasn't about to make that mistake.

Drop Point 1000 Local Time Stephanie grabbed her gear and looked towards Halstead and Foxwell. It had been a rather stressful flight over for her. She yanked one of the NCO's off the mission at the last second. She WOULD not put up with those who tried to think they ran the show. Stephanie was a hard ass but she was not unreasonable. She trusted Adam to take over the extraction. Steph always thought of herself as part of the team, not above it. It had been a while since she had picked up her sniper rifle. Before her POW days. No she had to push those thoughts out right now. There were people depending on her. "Foxwell. Halstead. Step it up. Let's move." Her commands were short simple and to the point. The Colonel was not a woman of many words unless they needed to be said. Tag: Lt. Col. Elizabeth Dovev, Sgt. Jay Halstead,@david, Gy Sgt. Julien Foxwell, Ssgt. Sherman Sullivan, @cross, Lt. Col. Drop Point 1000 Local Time ---------- The Colonel was far from anyone to be messed with, Savannah might be new to JTF but the one thing she did respect was the chain of command as she had her bags in her hands waiting to move off from the drop point. It was as nerve wracking as ever as she double and triple checked her gun again and again before making sure the zips on her bags were closed. Savannah had served in all kinds of places, tents here and there, hospitals, barely there outposts it made no difference to her though the nervous feeling was always the same. The feeling of did I pack everything, what if it goes wrong? Is it possible to still keep calm? In the moment she just did what she did, the aftermath when it was quiet and her head was all she had left that was when it hit home. Though she tried to never thing about that much as she checked her bag again for a once over. Taking a walking talking medical kit came in all shapes and sizes however she had to pack most things to make sure even the most surreal was covered. Then again she was used to it all, it was her job and it was simple. Take the gear to the people who needed it and think of everything possible. It wasn’t really fool proof but then again life wasn’t and there was always the great unanticipated. Still so far no injuries was music to her ears. It was likely to change but then it was why she was there, an extra gun and to help out where she could on the ground as she awaited any orders. Tag: Lt. Col. Elizabeth Dovev , Sgt. Drop point 1000 local time
"Foxwell. Halstead. Step it up. Let's move."
Julien slung his rifle case over his shoulder with an affirming nod, and there was a lot that had gone on that flight - but with the knowledge that a certain soldier had been sent packing gave him peace of mind. Far too much was at play for error. He needed to remain calm, collected and on-point. Everything would fall into place, and it would certainly be too optimistic to say that they would not run into any trouble. A frown had crossed his features momentarily as he thought of his brother - he had been a POW. It had not really hit him, not that he had forgotten, but rather it had all caught up with him during the peace of being on the ground one step closer to rescuing their own.
Deep breath in, exhale out.
--
Sherman had finally got his vehicle out of the cargo plane, parking it in the general direction until everyone had been sorted and all boots were on the ground. He had walked up to the trio of snipers, giving each of them a nod before opening his mouth to speak, "If you want to hop on with us, more than enough space for all three?" It was merely a suggestion, he did not mind whether the three were happy to walk. Sherman turned to Savannah, "Feel free to make yourself comfortable shotgun, ma'am."

Aerial Perimeter Near Drop Point 1000 Local Time Lizzie was focused on getting their group together. "Listen up. We don't go in hard and heavy until we get the signal from below." She sighed. Flying around would be loud enough to catch someone's attention. "We want their eyes in the sky. Not on the ground." Lizzie added to the comment after a moment. Though there was hardly enough things to just start wasting ammunition on. There were a few options and none of them she really liked. One thing Liz was known for was wasting ammunition, but a hole in the ground? Well if it made a lot of noise then it made a lot of noise. The only problem is those bullets had to go somewhere. Though a smile crept around on her face. "Hey Harvey. Do you want to pull some training maneuvers and have a little bit of fun?" Oh by fun she meant flying around making sonic booms that could make the earth tremble. Get enough F-22's doing flyby's and there was liable to be a very strong response of 'what the hell was that?' It heavily depending on their speed, timing, and maneuverability. That wasn't to say she wasn't going to target anything on the ground, because if you can't take them out after you distract them where was all the fun? Okay killing people wasn't fun in her mind, but their orders had been clear. To take the enemy out. Tag: Sgt. Jay Halstead, @david, Col. Stephanie Huntley, Lt. Col. Savannah Caffery, Gy Sgt. Jay bit his lip as he listened everyone around him talk. Got a bad feeling about this, he thought to himself. He wasn't quite sure what he'd find and he wasn't sure he liked that. Okay, just relax and keep alert, he thought to himself. They had a good team and as long as they all followed orders, everything would be relatively good. That wasn't to say that things wouldn't go to hell in a hand-basket, but they would be able to at least minimize the fall out from this. Or at least...that's what he was hoping. Not that he'd tell anyone this.
A few moments later, they were at their destination and Colonel Amberson began giving out orders. "On your six, Colonel," he assured, quickly grabbing his gun and following her. Okay, they were getting somewhere now. Hopefully. He just needed someone to point and shoot at Hopefully, he'd get some further instructions. And yes, he was now wound even more tightly. But that was to be expected. He just hoped that they could go in, get their guys, and then just head out. And yes, he knew that was wishful thinking.

Stephanie hopped into the back of the vehicle. Any means to get them in place was welcomed. She climbed into the backseat and kept quiet for most of the trip. It wasn’t until they got to their destination that she started issuing orders. “Keep your radio in your ear, and your radio traffic minimal.” She added as she laid down among the rocks. There was no real place to hide. Water and old rice paddies made their environment pretty damp. She kept her eyes peeled. Honestly, she was waiting on the extraction teams to get into place. What was taking them so long? Lt. Col. Elizabeth Dovev, Sgt. Jay Halstead,@david, Lt. Col. Savannah Caffery, Gy Sgt. Julien Foxwell, (Just pushing this along, I know its terrible.)

Julien got comfortable among the rocks, scouting his surroundings quickly, making his mental notes of initial wind speeds and the like. He pulled out his rifle, and settled it between two rocks, looking down the scope. He had calibrated and re-calibrated before he had gotten on the plane, it should be all good to go. It was not the best place in the world to hide and he was certain that there were better ones, but with Sherman having gone back to drop off the others - they would have to hump to wherever they needed to be to get a good shot.
"All set when they are." He murmured.

Savannah smiled and nodded as she got into the passenger seat in the vehicle. “Thanks Staff Sergeant.” She said politely, well things were looking like they were getting started or at least they were about to get to where everything would be happening as she made sure her kit was with her. It was turning into an interesting trip as mostly all overseas trips were. The quiet for most of the trip had her mind going over drills she had, she had packed and repacked her bag in her head knowing it was all she needed. Even the art of stitching she feel her fingers tapping against her leg performing the movements for a simple piece of calm. Work relaxed her and this trip, it was anything but relaxing. Savannah glanced over at Sherman once the snipers had been dropped off in position. “Looks like today is a little more interesting than training.” She stated not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing right then. The unknowns worried her, they had come all of this way to rescue people and she just hoped they were in good enough shape to be rescued. Tag: Lt. Col. Elizabeth Dovev, Sgt. Jay Halstead,@david, Col.
