born into bad news to a father who was in prison and a drug addicted mother, she was adopted by a dirty cop hank voight. when she fell into drugs though he was the one who made sure she learned from it. her family is her unit, and a select few that she considers to be close to her. erin distances herself from most people, though she can be very empathetic and if you can gain her friendship you can gain a great friendship. though she tends to hang with mostly those at the firehouse or at the office.

relationships have always been hard for erin, even when she does want to make them work. it takes a strong man to be able to be able to let her have her independence without being the helicopter type. she has managed to find that in Lt. Kelly Severide, having known the guy since high school they have their ups and downs but they are best friends first. neither one of them has had the best timing when it comes to relationships, what if they mess this up?

oh there are several of those. just ask anyone who has ever been in her handcuffs (except kelly). she can be very spitful and vindictive to those she deems enemies if she wants to do so.

I think Jay and Erin would become really good friends, having an easy banter that would be brother/sister like.

Erin is about the only person he trusts outside of FD family, plus he's liked her for a long time.
