Harrison slammed the door to the cafe behind him. He wasn't exactly the cordial hold the door for the woman type. They'd assigned him some new guy from Chicago as a partner and Harrison wasn't the biggest fan of working together with people. He'd been told to bring him up to speed on the arson case before turning it over to Atwater. Because Voight's partner wasn't too close to this? Wait there were two Voights now? Well maybe this guy would be more reasonable than his daughter? Not that he wasn't on the warpath over someone going after one of their own but Erin and Harrison didn't exactly get a long from the get go. Right, he could be civil but going after another officer was a bad idea. It put Harrison on a warpath, and now they wanted to take him off the case. He took his coffee from the barista who rolled her eyes. There were no pleasantries exchanged. No one really cared much for Harrison around the town. Everyone knew he didn't make friends easily. He sipped on his black coffee as he continued to look over the arsonist case. Well technically, it was the same case but he wasn't looking at Erin's incident. He was looking at another incident prior, there had been several. Tag: Sgt. Hank VoightOoc: Sorry its short

Hank wasnt in the mood for a baby sitter, least of all one that didnt seem to get along with his daughter. He was far from Chicago but the same rules on family applied, someone had tried to hurt family and that wasnt acceptable in any town he was in. This new partner had just better understand that one and the fact he didnt exactly play by the rules. A new town in his head made him think that the rules needed to be set and tested because the ones in place, well Chicago had to learn the hard way what he was capable of. He was sure Tierney would too.
Pleasantries weren’t his thing either but please and thank you when he didnt have anywhere to be and wanted to stop the inevitable partner thing he had been shoved toward. Yeah great he thought as he watched the guy a few people ahead not even bother with a thanks. When Hank managed to get his coffee he just about managed a smile and a thank you before he figured he might say something to the guy. That was until he saw the case files the guy was looking at. That was his partner he thought rolling his eyes as he held his coffee cup in one hand and made his way over.
“Hey, are you Detective Galloway who’s waiting for the new partner?” Hank asked motioning toward the files, he guessed by the files the answer was a yes but still he figured he would wait to be sure before jumping ahead and getting into the case to figure out the arson case. He had a serious interest in it and either way he would be poking around it, if he was allowed or not it didnt make a difference to him.

Galloway wasn’t exactly known for playing by the rules, which was probably one of the reasons he went through so many partners. Not playing by the rules most of the time got Harrison into trouble. That’s perhaps why they were pairing him with a sergeant this time. “You must be Sergeant Voight?” He offered a hand towards the other male in greeting. “Now I see where Erin gets her charming personality.” He pointed out. Well charming wasn’t exactly how he would have phrased the annoying mannerisms that Erin drove him up the wall with. Harrison didn’t hand over the files right away. He tucked them behind his back. “I know you have an interest in this case Sergeant but the images of the others involved with this serial arsonist… You sure you want in on this?” Well Harrison already knew the answer; but he also wasn’t so sure he trusted some new guy to have his back when he rang this guy’s neck. Well ringing someone’s neck was putting it mildly. Tag: Sgt. Hank Voight

Hank wasnt entirely sure if he wanted to be within a hundred feet of this guy, anyone who didnt like Erin had some issue because Erin in his eyes was perfect. Today he was a cop and remembering that was difficult when he wanted to tear chunks out of the arsonist that put his daughter in the hospital. With a baby sitter plan A was starting to look like it was about to get a little more complicated than he first thought.
Hank took the guys hand and shook it nodding. “Voight and yeah she has a fantastic personality doesn’t she.” He said with a bit of a smirk, charming and Erin in the same sentence he would need to be across the state to not understand the undertone to that statement. Hank watched as Harrison tucked the files behind his back; if he wanted a game of wrestling for them then he was the wrong partner. He would sooner shoot the guy than fight for the files as he sighed.
“Do you have kids detective?” Hank asked as he took a seat at the table, so he wasnt about to lay out his whole ‘I’ll end the guy that did this’ plan but he could at least hint toward it. Harrison didnt exactly scream by the book to him but then his play book was likely a lot different to many other cops so it was all down to character judgement he felt. “I’d do anything for my daughter, whatever it takes now you can stand in my way but I suggested you get out of it before you get hurt.” Hank stated.
“I want in on this case, now either I work with you or on my own, I don’t really care. This guy hurt my daughter could have hurt a good friend.” He said as he spoke of Severide. “And no one gets away with that, this guy has hurt a lot of others too so you either let me see the file or I get the file another way. So the question is detective do we work together to put this guy where he belongs or do we have a problem?” Hank asked keeping his face like stone, no smile or hint of warmth at all.
If Harrison wanted to be a baby sitter he had picked the wrong cop to babysit because there wasnt a chance in hell that he was going to stand down on this case. Tierney or not Hank was still Hank no matter where he was and sure it wasnt Chicago but the same principle applied. Leave no stone unturned and end whatever chance this guy had of hurting his family or anyone elses.

It wasn’t that Harrison wasn’t on the same page with Hank but Galloway was different from a fair bit of cops and he didn’t take well to his supers pushing him around. “She’s one of the best in Tierney.” His voice was full of honesty. Harrison didn’t have to get along with someone to tell the truth about them.He wasn’t exactly one for spreading rumors. When Hank started threatening him he shrugged slamming the files down on the desk. “I’ve had a lot of threats in my time Sergeant, I’m not scared of you or anyone else in this town.” He replied turning his back on the man and walking away. It wasn’t like it was his only copy of the file but Harrison really had to speak to somebody because this Sergeant thought he could come in here and run the town? Um no. Harrison wasn’t exactly a people person. He’d work his end of the case and until now he had made up his mind that he would have Voights back regardless. As of right now he trusted Hank as much as he enjoyed Erin’s company. He looked over his shoulder. “For the record Sergeant, Jackie is a few years older than Erin.” He set his daughter’s picture on the table. “Personally, if I were you I’d want the guy dead. As your partner, I’m willing to do what it takes to make sure you don’t do time nailing this guy. Because I know Erin needs you.” He replied before taking the picture back up. “Erin and I don’t always see eye to eye; but she’s just as much family as any other cop in this town.” He tucked the picture back in his wallet and headed for the door. “But it looks like you think you got it all figured out Mr. Chicago.” He retorted. Closing the door behind him he started down the street. Harrison wasn’t a hand holder and if Hank didn’t want anyone to have his back then so be it. Harrison wouldn’t be the one to break the news to Erin when the feds came after Hank either if he wanted to continue on in this fashion. The place was crawling with feds because of the JTF. If Hank wanted to bend the rules, then Harrison knew all the tricks of the town. But Hank clearly thought the same thing would work, then who was Harrison to stop him. Tag: Sgt. Hank Voight

Hank nodded, he wasnt going to deny his daughter was good at what she did. Sure he might be a bit biased on the subject but then Erin was standing on her own two feet within a different police department so really there was no denying she was good at her job. “Glad to hear it.” He stated thankful that Harrison was on the same page he was about one thing at least so far. It could only get better right?
“Then you’re either crazy or a fool and I don’t think you’re a fool.” Hank stated, it said something that the man wasnt scared of him. Yes Hank’s reputation hadn’t spread across America but it took a certain sort of someone to make a statement like that and Hank believed every single word of it. There wasnt a doubt in his mind that Harrison was scared of anyone in the town. Hank reached out for the file that he had slammed onto the desk, well information was key and this was the first time he was looking at it.
Hank glanced up as Harrison started to talk about his daughter Jackie. “She’s beautiful, you’re a lucky guy so you do understand.” Hank stated as he nodded, “Never said I didnt want the guy dead and thanks it means a lot to know you’ve got my back on this and Erin’s too.” It was like a breath of fresh air to him, a cop that understood and didnt seem tethered by the rules and law of the land. Maybe Tierney wasnt too bad after all. Hank kept reading the rile as he watched Harrison walk out after calling him Mr. Chicago. Great so city cop comes to Tierney and this is what he had to deal with.
The file in his hands had everything as he closed it and headed out the door to follow Harrison. Hank wasnt exactly skilled at making friends but given Erin and Kelly were about the only two people he trusted in the town he needed a cop to help him understand how things worked here. It wasnt Chicago and he was trying to play that game in a different town. “Hey, wait up.” Hank called as he shuffled a little faster to catch up.
“This town I can’t figure out on my own. You’re right Mr. Chicago doesn’t work here so I’ve got to trust someone right?” He stated not sure if he was putting his trust in the wrong person but then again they had just discussed killing someone so really how badly wrong could it go. Unless the guy was IA and then it was all suddenly a hypothetical situation. “Listen I dont know how it works here but for me, we can work together or work alone. Easier if we work together, I’ve got your back and the same applies for you. I’ll do whatever it takes as a partner to get the job done and no one hurts family.” Hank said as he took a breath.
“Now I’m not saying we need to be friends but we are partners and where I come from that means a lot. So do we work this together?” Hank asked as he tried to make an uneasy peace between the two of them. “If it all blows up in our faces then at least we can ask for new partner’s right?” He offered deciding after the case if they seriously couldnt get along then it was a way forward at least.
