Three Weeks after the mission end...
Stephanie waited until Halstead had been released from the hospital before calling him and Ruzek to her office. Oh she was not a happy camper at all. Looking at Ruzek and Halstead she glared daggers at the Lt. Colonel and the Sergeant. "Lt. Colonel Ruzek, give me ONE good reason why I shouldn't kick your ass down the hall like a soccer ball and let you fumble your way out of this unit?" He might have chosen the corner but she was going to make sure he was cozy up in there with limited space if he did so. "If it were up to me you wouldn't be getting this promotion." Stephanie was still a bit sour that THIS was her executive officer and this was how he chose to showcase his skills.
Grabbing the ID badges they had taken off the dead bodies she handed one of them to each of them. "Take two looks at them the both of you." They looked nothing like the official identification of the pilots that were supposed to have landed. "You want to tell me how this got past you two idiots?" Why was she having this discussion? Snatching them back she tossed them across the desk and watched them smack into the wall.
It didn't really help that the chopper the base had sent out had never returned. It also didn't help that James had been shot, and most of the base had been wiped out. There was a lot on her mind. She had three teenagers at home and she was having to focus her efforts over here longer than she'd thought. Deployments were never easy and they were sending James home soon on medical leave. At least he would be out of this mess. Glancing up towards them both once more she thumped the floors with her boots. By her line of reasoning Jay had been shot by his own carelessness as well as Ruzek's. Stephanie didn't blame the injuries of the base on them because then it would be personal and no one wanted to get personal with her. It was just a bad idea.
