Korea had been hell. Erin hated being the one who had to find out information and then tag along for the ride. Right, because when they had questions they’d come to her and Kev. Sighing she got off the plane. To be honest, she was exhausted and really needed sleep. Some had come on the plane but it was hard to sleep on a jump flight, so it had been brief and uncomfortable, leaving her not well rested. There was too much anticipation on landing and coming home. She got off of the transport plane and started looking for Kelly. Glancing over around she realized she was one of the few civilians getting off the plane. To her it didn’t matter, home was home. She finally found Kelly and ran to him. Erin wrapped her arms around him. She knew she’d been gone much shorter than some of those who had been in Korea longer but anytime away was too much time. Erin buried her head in Kelly’s shoulder to take in his scent. She was quiet but she was happy. This was where she belonged. Tag: Lt. Kelly Severide

Kelly glanced at his watch. Would the flight never come? Okay, yes, he was impatient. But could you really blame him? He wanted to see his girl. Missed her, he thought to himself. He honestly didn't know how other people did it. The whole time Erin was away, he had felt like he was going crazy. Not to mention the worry factor. And yes, he worried. How could he not when she had been a bazillion miles away? He didn't like it. Not because he didn't think she couldn't protect herself---he was well aware of how badass she really was---but because he often had no idea what was going on with her.
He gave himself a mental shake and then grinned when he saw her. "Hey Babe," he greeted, going to her, and went to pull her into a hug, intending to kiss her. "Missed you. Glad you're back," he told her as she wrapped her arms around him and buried her head in his shoulder. "I love you. You hungry?" he asked. And yes, he was well aware that he was probably babbling, but he had no idea what to say to her. It wasn't like he could ask her what had gone down. Even though she had gone in a civilian capacity, they probably expected her to stay quiet about whatever she had done and seen. And he was going to respect that.

It felt good to be in Kelly’s arms. Better than it felt to be on solid ground. “I’m gone for two months and all I can get is a hey?” She teased him poking him in the side but smiling. She looked around at all the others coming home and greeting their families. It reminded her that was why she worked so hard. These people might be military but they had families who were home waiting for them, families that Erin worked to protect. She turned her attention back to Kelly and kissed him. “Love you too.” She replied. Though when he asked her about being hungry she laughed. “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, not a woman’s” She teased a bit. “You’ve been stuck spending time with dad too long.” She added. Though in all seriousness she hadn’t eaten much, she never did before or during flights. “But yes, yes I could eat something.”Tag: Lt. Kelly Severide

Kelly smiled as Erin teased him about his response, reminding him that she had been gone for a couple of months, poking him in the side as she talked. "Figured you wouldn't be up for talking cause of the flight," he stated. And that was a pretty good assumption, if you asked him. But hey, if she wanted to talk, he could do that too.
His smile grew as she responded that she loved him too, teasing him, saying that it was the man's heart that was won through his stomach, not a woman's, saying that he had been hanging around her dad too long and that she could eat. "Awesome," he replied. "You in the mood for a sit down place or drive-through?" he queried. Personally, he was all for driving through some place and taking the food home, but maybe she was wanting to sit down somewhere and eat as a leisurely pace.

Erin shook her head. “You should know better than to assume. It makes an ass out of you and me.” She teased. Sighing, she put her head on his shoulder as they walked towards the baggage claim. She was just happy that she was home. There had been a lot of things in Korea that she hadn’t wanted to see. “Drive through. I want to go home and not leave the house for a week.” Well she still had to go to work but she figured he would get what she meant. She rubbed her eyes and sighed. Her dad was probably going nuts at work. “So they partnered Dad and I up at work now. Guess no one could handle him.” She didn’t mention why Kevin had disappeared. To be honest, she didn’t know. Kelly laughed as Erin said he should know better than to assume as it made an ass out of both them. Such a corny joke, he thought to himself. But it had made him laugh so it worked. And that had probably been her plan all along---get him to laugh. And if that was the case, mission accomplished. And he loved her for it. Don't know what I'd do without her, he thought to himself.
He then nodded as she responded that she wanted to go through a drive through, adding that she just wanted to go home and not leave for a week. "As you wish," he responded. At the announcement that she had been paired up with her father, citing the fact that no one could handle him, he let out a chuckle. "Well, he is kinda scary, even if you know him," he pointed out. Which had partially been the reason why he had been reluctant to start something with her. Not that he would say this out loud as he had a feeling that she'd kick his ass if she knew.
Giving himself a mental shake, he grabbed her things and the headed for the exit. "What do you feel like?" he queried.

Erin had opted for burgers and shakes from her favorite place. When they got home she grabbed her case files and sat at the dining room table with them. She popped a fry into her mouth and started going over this serial killer’s profile. Again. Hank had already warned her about being too close to this case before she had left for Korea. Now here she was back on American soil and back at it again.
Erin still wanted to talk to Matt, to Grace. Though Matt had been with her in Korea, she knew he’d just gotten back so disturbing them now would be… a bad time. That didn’t stop Erin from digging at other angles still. Now she was just trying to choose the angle that fit best right about now.

After they got food from her favorite place, they headed back home and he began eating as he watched her pour over the case files, his eyes clouded in worry. She's too close to this, he thought to himself. But he wasn't going to say that. After all, he wanted this jackass caught too. And if that meant she worked it, fine. That didn't mean that he wouldn't worry though. He was worried as hell. Someone had tried to kill her and that didn't sit well with him. Stuff like that never did. But it wasn't really like he could do anything to help her out. She was the detective and he was the firefighter.
His reverie was broken as Bruno came running up to them, his tale wagging. "Hey Buddy," he greeted and the dog trotted over to him. "Who's a good boy?" he queried, scratching the animal behind the ears. Glad he's here. He's made her so happy, he thought to himself. And that's all he wanted: Erin to be happy.
