Jamie stood in the airport. The plane emptied and she saw everyone getting off. Everyone except Eric. With both of her sons there she tried to hold a face. Jackie took one look at Jamie and took Mason and Dylan with her. Jackie had Cameron on one hip and handed the oldest teen the keys to her car. “We will be right there.” The oldest was rather mature for fourteen. He was a good kid and didn’t start too much trouble. Jackie knew the kids were going to need her as much as her sister, but she also knew that getting Jamie out of the airport would be harder if she had all the kids grouped up here.
Jackie wrapped her arms around her sister and just hugged her. Not seeing Eric get off the plane, she could only hope maybe he’d caught a later flight. Jamie, however, she had a feeling. Jackie was trying to be optimistic. She knew what losing someone was like. Though Jackie couldn’t imagine what state she would be in if Cameron hadn’t walked off the planes over the years.
Jamie shoved her sister off of her and threw a punch at the wall. Feeling her knuckles slide against the surface she took deep breaths and then pulled her hand back to start again. This time Jackie caught her sister’s arm and pulled her away from the wall. “Jamison” The name came off Jackie’s lips sharply. Motherly.
“Now is not the time for you to mother me Jacqueline.” While they were at full first names, Jamie might as well get her anger out. Jamie wanted to cry but she wasn’t going to break down in front of anyone. That wasn’t Jamie’s style. Though Jackie could see that Jamie was close to breaking. It was a part of a sisterly bond they shared. They’d lost Dustin together, they’d lost a mother together, and now Eric wasn’t here. Jamie felt like crumbling but instead marched off towards the car leaving Jackie only to follow at a close distance keeping an eye on her younger sibling.

Hank was still trying to get used to Tierney, even the short trip back to Chicago to testify on a previous case and it felt strange going through the airport. Erin was there so sure it felt like home at times but then it wasnt like had put down roots or really put down anything much to be honest. Still walking through the airport he managed to see two women stood there, one seemed rather upset about something which was a general give away when she punched the wall.
Well at least it was the wall he thought as he made his way past them for a moment before he winced, nope he was a cop it wasnt like he could just ignore that. Hank stayed a respectful distance away as he watched the two women pass comment, sisters or cousins or family at least. He knew tones like that and comments too. It had been a regular occurrence in the Voight house hold, disagreements on clothes, food, nights out, curfews it was all the great things about being a parent that never seemed to go well.
Hank followed the two women mostly because he was heading to his car too, then again a few others were doing the same thing as he saw his car. Same spot he had left it in three days ago though it didnt take him much further until he saw the flat tyre on it. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” He stated a little louder than he had intended to. He walked around the car to see it was just one flat tyre but one was enough for his liking.
He dutifully kicked it before throwing his travel bag onto the boot on the car. “Three days, that’s all and this place has to pull this crap on me now. I really don’t need another reason to want to leave.” Hank stated muttering as he glanced at the two women before realising that ranting in public was a bad idea. “Sorry, just a bad day.” He said deciding that his bad day could be at least a line into what was going on earlier. “Everything okay with you both? Couldn’t help but notice you hit a wall.” He said a little quieter so only they could hear.

Jamie wasn’t exactly up on the whole car thing. That was usually Eric’s department. So Hank ranting about a flat tire mostly slipped past her. He could have been yelling at a wall and she would still be lost in her own little world. Jackie got in the car but Jamie was still outside when Hank approached and asked about her hitting the wall. “Yeah fine.” It was a standard Jamie reply for everything. She hid behind the bottle. Well, she did when her kids weren’t looking. Enough Vodka and everything would be right with the world again. Sighing she looked at her car. Randomly talking to strangers wasn’t a thing with her. Though she recognized Hank as Tierney police. Yeah, she did a little bit of work with them but not too much. Though Jamie lost most of her composure as she opened her car door. Bending over she let silent tears fall. Everyone had come home at least that’s what she’d been told. But they’d lied. Jamie gripped the door and then slammed it shut without getting in. That’s when she took off back into the airport, almost letting two cars careen into her. No, she wasn’t watching into traffic. Maybe there had been a mistake, maybe Eric had just caught a later flight? She searched the incoming arrivals. Not that Tierney really had that many. But maybe he was on a different flight? That’s what she was going to keep telling herself. Tag: Sgt. Hank Voight

Fine, fine was that word people used when nothing was fine and sure he had used that work himself from time to time. It didnt meant it gave him any faith in the person telling him that. Hitting the wall wasnt exactly one of those things that happened in life on a good day so he could only assume something was off. The woman’s face was familiar to him, he had seen her around though where he couldnt exactly place but with the amount of people there. It was like Chicago packed into a smaller space and not everyone was on the same side.
Oh he had tried the military police, asked for help and it was like eating red tape for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hank was just about to let it go when she saw her open the car door, maybe she was fine he thought for a second before he saw her crying and slammed the door shut. No he was right the first time, something was off. Hank motioned to the other woman in the car that he would go after Jamie. Was this woman crazy or something he wondered as he showed his badge to the two divers that almost hit her.
Hank made his way through the airport again only to see her at the incoming arrivals, well she was looking for someone then he figured. He had left his bag and jacket on the boot of his car as he walked over to Jamie. “Are you insane?” Hank asked her directly, “You could have gotten yourself killed. In front of your kids too assuming they are yours. What is wrong?” He asked her with a tone that said he wasnt really asking, more demanding the information from her.

Oh they were Jamie’s teens alright and she had another on the way. It was bad enough being high risk but Eric not showing up… it was getting to her. She just refused to believe he had never showed up on the flight. “I don’t have to talk to you.” Jamie knew her rights, she was a lawyer after all. Jamie pulled out and handed him her JAG id. “So sit here and huff and puff all you want. I don’t have to answer.” Jamie searched the incoming flights still looking. There were no other flights in that he could be on. Her hand smacked down on the desk that showed incoming flights and she took a few breaths and stepped back. Her hand cradled her stomach, she was sick to her stomach and was showing halfway through. High risk due to age, stress was not good for her. She glanced out the door to the parking lot. Her sister was waiting in the pick up lane now for her. Jamie refused to look at the man who had chased her down in the airport. Grabbing her phone out of her pocket, she looked hoping maybe for a text or a missed phone call and there was nothing. What had happened? She wasn’t sure she was ready for this. No, this was all a nightmare right? Tag: Sgt. Hank Voight

Hank rolled his eyes, if he had a dollar for every time people told him that he would have a lot more cash in his safe than he already did. “Yeah you have a point but telling me that is talking so nice try.” He said deciding that it was a good a reply as any. Sure he could be an ass at times and more so when he was trying to explain to a woman why running into traffic was an insane idea. Hank stared at her JAG id, great she was a lawyer well that explained just about everything he needed to know.
Lawyers were the cause of all issues in life as a cop. “No you don’t but before I arrest you for complete stupidity, why don’t you tell me what’s the issue here.” Hank asked though when he watched her cradle her stomach he sighed. Great, she was hormonal too, pregnant women well that explained a whole other level of nuts. He knew what Camille had been like with Justin, if it wasnt crazy food it was mood swings and Hank for nine months could do no right. Then things came back to their level of normal and he went on from there.
Hank wasnt about to ask how old she was but he guessed she wasnt in her twenties so things he doubted would be simple pregnancy wise. “Listen you don’t have to talk to me but why don’t we go and take a seat over there where it’s quieter.” He pointed to a few seats that were free. If she was sitting down he could at least try to calm her down some in an effort not to cause her more stress. He knew it was bad for the mother and bad for the baby too. “Mind he asking how far along are you?” He asked her as he wondered what her problem was.
“And I can help if you’ve lost your flight, or a bag or are you waiting for someone?” Hank asked not too sure but then again, people had gone to all levels of nuts for the smallest of things. Though first he needed more information if she was willing to give it to help her out. Though he wasnt going to leave her there in her state so no matter what she said she was stuck with him like it or not.

Jamison narrowed her eyes at Hank. “Stupidity isn’t a crime. Don’t try to blackmail me into talking Sergeant, it won’t work.” Jamie turned her back towards him and decided that really it wasn’t really worth her time to sit and argue with the police sergeant. It wasn’t like he could fix anything. Eric wasn’t here, and right now seeing past that was difficult, especially when she was herself plus one. She was beginning to show but trying to hide things. It hurt, especially after she’d found out that she was having a girl. A girl was exactly what Eric had been hoping for. Jamie gave him a look when he asked about the baby. “Far along enough to know it’s a girl.” Fine, it told him nothing but maybe he’d stop being a jerk. Though Jamie buried the pain that statement brought with it. Jamie really didn’t want to talk, she just stood staring at the incoming flights. Clenching her fist she tried to control her anger at everything around her. “My husband. He wasn’t on the flight.” From where she didn’t say. Though she saw a few more of the JTF people pick up their bags and not even Eric’s bag was there on the belt. Jamie stared at it blankly and just continued to hide things. No, this was not something that she wanted to discuss. Nope not at all. Tag: Sgt. Hank Voight

“It should be.” Hank scoffed wishing he could arrest people for just that crime. Still it wouldnt solve anything here he figured. Even when she turned her back Hank wasnt about to walk away from her, that would mean he was being the stupid one given what she had just done. It wasnt like he was going anywhere fast and this woman seemed to need help of some kind. Walking or rather running into traffic while pregnant was the worst thing he had practically seen in Tierney yet beyond someone going after his daughter. Erin couldnt have stopped that but this woman was just crazy.
“Congratulations on the baby girl then.” Hank said trying to smile to appear a little more friendly than his whole ‘I’ve had it with today’ vibe he usually had. Hank tried to make head or tails of the incoming flights she seemed to be looking at. There was the usual mix of delayed, cancelled and arrived so was she that annoyed a flight was delayed? Her clenched fists said it was more complicated but then if she wouldnt talk to him he couldnt help her. Women they were the most frustrating people alive, it would be simpler if they just made it that way he thought for a second.
“Okay he wasn’t on the flight, he might be on the next...” Hank stopped there as he saw the JTF arriving back from wherever it was this time. He was glad that Erin hadn’t been included as he glanced back at Jamie. Crap. She couldnt have meant that flight because people that didnt get home on those flights, well they just didnt as he regretted every harsh thing he had just said. This certainly wasnt Chicago anymore he thought. “You mean that flight right?” Hank said as he glanced around for some space as he saw an empty waiting area at the other side of the terminal.
“Look, I’m not telling you what to do but for the good of your daughter you need to sit down. If not for you, or me, or any other reason. Sit down for the baby’s sake.” Hank stated as he pointed to the empty area of seats slightly secluded from the rest of the terminal. “Why don’t we go and sit over there and I can make some calls for you. Find out what’s going on while we wait. Deal?” He asked her as he held out his hand for her figuring that if he had to handcuff her he would do but that wasnt exactly trying to take any of the stress out of the situation.
